This web app is intended as an aid to navigation ONLY and should not be relied on solely for this purpose.
Please use official government charts AUS795 and AUS173 from Port Huon South. To the best of our knowledge, no official chart exists upstream from Huon Yacht Club.
Franklin Marine has developed this navigation aid to help the boating community safely navigate the upper reaches of the Huon River.
Although Franklin is the third oldest port in Tasmania, it seems that it never made it onto the cartographer's list.
As the Huon River is under the jurisdiction of TasPorts, who have no interest in non-commercial boating - there are very limited navigation marks.
MAST has committed to more river marks in the future.
When on your phone, it is important to remember that the three lines in the top left corner are how you get the menu to appear. (see below)
Sometimes the web app may seem unresponsive, for time periods ranging from 10 to 30 seconds while loading new pages.
This happens because there is a lot of data for both our server and your device to process.
Please don't be alarmed if you are presented with a white screen for up to 30 seconds.
The Huon River Navigation App is constantly being updated and improved. If you have any suggestions about how we could make it better, or find any bugs - please email us and let us know.
We have collated data from several sources and also through our own electronic soundings.
This app is available at no cost to you; we encourage you to send it on to your friends and colleagues so they too can safely navigate the Huon River to the heritage port of Franklin!
Franklin Marine and Marina are here to help you - feel free to call ahead on (03) 6266 3768 should you require any further assistance making it up river.
